N.C. Smith grew up in Southeastern Finland, spending summers by the sea reading books and stories, loving the words and worlds of Tove Jansson, J.R.R. Tolkien and Ursula LeGuin. In 2007 she decided to export her educational expertise and finally found herself in the Pacific Northwest employed at an online university. When Nina is not busy mentoring educators and instructors pursuing their M.Ed. degrees in LxD - Learning Experience Design - and Curriculum & Instruction, she volunteers to increase Resiliency and Trauma-Informed Practices and consults for schools around the world to help educators to focus on deeper learning and learner agency.
